About City Bibles

Founded in 2007 by the Loukas Foundation, the City Bible Project has become a proven and impactful model for evangelism. Its mission is to empower believers in local churches to become effective witnesses for Jesus Christ, whether in villages, small towns, or large cities. The City Bible Project thrives thanks to the dedication of men and women who invest their time and resources in printing, producing, and distributing City Bibles worldwide.

The project’s success hinges on the active involvement of local church members. They are the hands and feet that distribute the City Bible, helping to spread the message of the Gospel in their communities. This model is built on the principles of “identification” and “communication,” ensuring that the Bible is accessible and impactful.

City Bible editions are produced and distributed in 100 countries and 80 languages, with nearly 5 million copies already reaching individuals across the globe. Through strategic training and support, believers are equipped for personal evangelism and effective follow-up with contacts and new converts.

The Hybrid Approach to Evangelism

In 2024, with 6.9 billion smartphone owners worldwide, the digital landscape presents a new opportunity for evangelism. The top three countries with the most QR code scans—China, India, and Nigeria—highlight the global potential for this method. Since 2017, QR scanners have been built into 90% of all devices, making it easier than ever for individuals to access digital resources.

But there’s a significant challenge—the Bible gap. While 60% of the world’s population has been reached with the Gospel, 40% remains unreached, often in remote, isolated areas with no access to the written Word, internet, or smartphones. The gap is widening, and the need for a new approach is urgent.

The Solution: QR Code Keychains

The answer lies in a hybrid evangelism approach that blends traditional hardcopy Bibles with digital accessibility. Our unique QR code keychain, which carries a digital Bible and offers easy access to the Gospel, is an effective and affordable tool. Keychains are small, lightweight, and easily distributed, making them ideal for reaching people on the go. With the top 100 spoken languages, we can reach up to 90% of the world’s population, providing Bible access in their own language.

This initiative allows online readers to request a Bible in their native language, fostering a direct connection between individuals and the Word of God. With efficient Bible layouts (up to 720 pages), the keychain offers a digital version of the Bible that is simple to navigate and share.

A Global Reach

The Bible gap is growing, but so is our ability to reach people through smartphones and QR codes. With 21.6% of the unreached population already owning smartphones with internet access, the potential for impact is enormous. By focusing on efficient distribution methods, like our keychains, we can maximize our reach and ensure that more people are introduced to the Gospel.
